This is an innovation from the scientists of Rovira i Virgili University (URV).

They are reporting that, “mud” which are being discarded as solid waste from waste water treatment plants, are having a huge potential to act as a ‘green’ fuel hint_sm . According to them, this mud can be incorporated into cement factories as a partial, but, as a promising alternate energy source.

guide_sm They have implemented this method for the first time in a large cement plant in Vallcarca (Catalonia). Now, the plant is saving up to 20% of the fossil fuel energy by using this alternative “mud-based technology”. That means, this seems to have a strong potential to be qualified as a perfect solution for cutting down the huge amounts of CO2 and other pollutants that are being continuously emitted by the cement factories.

“As this mud is already waste, burning it does not enter into the atmospheric CO2 emissions assigned to each country under the Kyoto Protocol”, José Luis Domingo, lead author of the study and director of the Toxicology and Environmental Health Laboratory at the URV.

There’s more doit_sm guide_sm . In addition to being a solution for the reduction of higher toxic substance emission rates, as an added benefit, it shows another potential for reducing cancer rates among the people living in the vicinity to the cement factories.

Finally, as the conclusion, by considering all the facts and features, we a have pretty sure idea, that this new ‘green’ fuel would likely to be remain in the industry as a very environmental-friendly and a very economically beneficial energy source laught_sm . Thank you..!
