Portable Mobile Phone Charger Powered by “Dancing”
The Orange Dance Charge: The most recent result of the frenzied research into alternate, sustainable energy sources to power mobile phones!
Who?
Orange plc, a telecommunications company in the UK working together with renewable energy specialists GotWind, has produced this latest marvel in the world of green technology!
The idea was conceived through…
Research into a portable phone charger that would harness kinetic energy created by festival dancers at summer music festivals to generate a clean and renewable energy source.
And the result?
The Dance Charge! It is a prototype device that weighs in at only 180 g and is about the size of a pack of cards. The unit comes encased in an elasticized, black strap which is attached over the bearer’s bicep in a similar fashion to a runner’s arm-mounted mp3 player.
How does it work?
As the user moves their arms along to the music, a specially designed system of weights and magnets creates an electrical current which provides a top-up of charge to a storage battery.
