Electric Vehicle Charging Station powered by Wind Energy
Perhaps it is fitting that the continental United States’ first wind powered EV charging station is to be built in the ‘windy city,’ a.k.a. Chicago! As far as proponents of green technology are concerned, this has got to be fantastic news. Think about it. A charging station powered by renewable wind energy that charges electric vehicles which contribute to a cut back on greenhouse gas emissions!
Who is responsible?
California based EV charging station maker Coulomb Technologies and their Midwest distributor, Carbon Day Automotive of Chicago.

The wind powered EV charging station is installed in Highland Park, about 30 miles from Chicago.
This new development…
Promises a cleaner grid that will ultimately lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The prairie winds of Illinois are harnessed to generate the power required in this project.
The two companies that came together in this venture have also collaborated previously to build a solar-powered EV charging station for Chicago’s department of fleet management. About a dozen such stations exist in the world.
This highland park station…
Is the first such wind-powered EV charging station in the continental US as mentioned above. Previously a similar ChargePoint station was built on the Hawaiian island that was powered by wind turbines.
***We found several videos on ChargePoint charging stations by Carbon Day and Coulomb Technologies. Watch.!
