Ecosia, The Greenest Search Engine in the Globe
Ecosia is a search engine which, apparently, describes itself as an eco-friendly alternative to Google. Powered by Bing and Yahoo, and according to them, for each search you do using Ecosia, you can save 2m2 (about 21 square feet) of rainforests because they claim to donate 80% of the revenue generated from sponsored links to a rainforest protection program run by the WWF.

Whats wrong with regular search engines?

They consume a lot of power causing a lot of co2 emissions

Because thousands of their servers consume a huge amount of energy

However search engines are making ‘billions of dollars’ from advertisements such as sponsored links, but their investment of that money on environment is quite low

But, Ecosia which is an Eco-friendly search engine donates at least 80% of their income to a rainforest protection program run by WWF

Saving rainforests is important, because every year, a rainforest area larger than UK is burnt or cut down.

This in turn causes 20 precent of the global C02 emissions

But with ecosia users can save 2m2 of rainforest with each search

Help save the rain forests, use Ecosia
