The device/system comes as two separate components; a sensor and a portable monitor. They can be kept 100ft distance apart when there is clear line of sight in between them. According to the specification, this sensor is attached passively to the exterior of the electric meter and is responsible for sending relevant information wirelessly to the portable monitor, which in turn displays real time energy costs in dollars and cents to the user.  Furthermore, the device is easy to install and comes with a manual with detailed instructions on how you can set up the device with ease.
