Skipping rope, although not a legitimate sport, has been around for a long while. Using the kinetic energy generated in the process to recharge your batteries though is admittedly a much younger idea.

Designer Kyung Guk Lee’s e-rope will help you charge your AA batteries while you skip your way to a healthier life or gales of laughter with your kids.

The design…

Is quite nifty as you can see in the image. The silicone handles are comfortable to hold and there is an LED light on the side of them that indicates three states of the battery power: empty, half charged and fully charged.

The +/- indicators will help you figure out the way in which to insert the batteries.

How efficient?

Twenty minutes of skipping will generate enough kinetic power to fully charge one AA battery, and you can insert four of them into the device at once.

It may not help you lose the girth around your mid section but at least skipping with the e-rope will ensure that the fun you have is coupled with some clean energy of your own making.
