ChimChum – Chimney-mounted Wind Turbine
ChimChum is a new type of a scaled-down wind turbine model that is designed to be mounted on the top of the chimney of your house. Although the device appears to block the opening of the chimney, the smoke can be effectively ventilated out as it has fume ventilation slats built underneath the top cover. This arrangement also prevents debris and nesting animals from entering into the chimney.
As for the vanes, they are manufactured from a very strong but extremely lightweight carbon fibre resin. As a result, the amount of energy required to rotate them is low, and this allows even a slightest breeze of wind to participate in the production of electricity.
The inner parts of the device are occupied by the generator and the bearings. Both components are manufactured from stainless steel in order to make them durable. Furthermore, the ‘Ultra-low’ friction between the bearings helps ChimChum to achieve a greater efficiency.
