Synapse Bike – Sports Bicycle Inspired By Real “Synapses”
Designed by the French industrial designer Sylvain Gerber, the ‘Synapse bike’ is a combination of two basic design elements; the complex organic structure seen on a medical image of a “synapse” and the hubless wheels concept which can already be seen on certain bike. The first element has been applied to the bicycle’s frame which by the way is a metallic structure with a good mechanical design. And, the hubless nature can be seen in both front and rear wheels, and pedals.
Each wheel connects with the rest of the bike’s body through a small block which houses a small electric motor. These motors are for providing further assistance to the function of the wheels. As for the appearance, the designer has decided to dress it with bright graphic elements in order to give it a hi-tech appeal.
According to Sylvain, since ‘Synapse’ is designed to be a sports bike line with a less-aggressive form, it can target a larger market if it ever comes to real life.
