Beauty of Washed up Flip Flops

There are thousands of discarded Flip-Flops washed up on the shorelines of Eastern Africa. Majority of them have come all the way from Asia and other parts of the African continent, and are now weathered and discolored. With the help of UniquEco, an initiative that collects these washed up flip-flops from the eastern African shores, some of those wasted items get lucky enough to make into the hands of a designer in Netherlands, Diederik Schneemann from “Studio Schneemann”.

The lucky flip flops, now gotten into the hands of a creative mind, gets a make over and be transformed into colorful design products, getting ready to start a new life as a vase or a lamp. And, this is the story of “A Flip Flop Story”, a collection of sustainable design products from Studio Schneemann.
