PET Bottle Chair

Contemporary Chair Made from Repurposed PET Bottles
Called ‘SIE 43’, this is a contemporary chair which is entirely made of repurposed PED bottles and stainless steel. It was created by Polish designer Pawel Grunert for the exhibition “Eco Trans Pop” at Edizioni Galleria Colombari in Milano, Italy.
The entire structure is composed of about 200 PET bottles which are arranged in a way that they create an organic structure. Moreover, if any bottle gets damaged, it can be replaced with a newer one.
This is what the designer said to us;
SIE43 was designed for Edizioni Gallerie Colombari in Milano, for Salone 2009. I participated in the ECO-TRANS-POP exhibition together with Karim Raszid, David Palterer etc. – recognised names in word-wide design. My idea was to produce a seat-joke from the most popular product that you may find everywhere. I considered even cow’s dung being thrown into each bottle – to underline the joke meaning of the object, as well as get methane blowing up bottles. Finally, I resigned – not everyone has the same rough sense of humor. ECO – is than smell of fresh dung from Mazovia, POP – PET bottle, TRANS – combination of both accompanied by joke, which turned out to be quite functional and comfortable piece of furniture.
